VIGAN can design and adapt its equipment to match exactly existing site configuration. Specific gantries, equipment split and dispatch, tailor-made solutions and attention to details is what allows VIGAN to propose the most performant and cost-effective solution.
In each of the highlighted projects, the customers had important site constrains in term of space but with high demands in terms of machine size.
For the first project, the unloading operation had to be performed along the existing building without any suitable pier to place the machine. VIGAN proposed a custom barge unloader with long boom mounted on the side of the building. The machine room is completely integrated inside the building. The new installation is connected to the existing silo system.
On the second project, the customer wanted to minimize the machine footprint and loads the reduce civil work costs as we needed to place the equipment on the Rhine. VIGAN proposed a NIV head to offer all the benefit of the NIV technology integrated on a pontoon for the second one.
Already in the 90’s, VIGAN was selected by our customers to handle delicate cargoes. This project was for cocoa beans unloading and it was mandatory to preserve the product in the unloading process.

For a new grain terminal, VIGAN has supplied a NIV along mechanical unloaders from the silo equipment manufacturer. After five years of operation, the customer repeats the trust in VIGAN pneumatic ship unloaders reliability and make the choice to add a second NIV500tph instead of a mechanical unloader to increase intake capacity and efficiency of his grain terminal.
Over the past decade, main grain importer of Taiwan has thrusted VIGAN to replace the complete fleet of old mechanical and pneumatic unloaders by VIGAN pneumatic NIV ship unloaders. With 6 NIV, the customer can unload 70k tons daily thanks to VIGAN reliable solutions.
Confident in its technology, VIGAN has proposed the first 800 tons per hour in one pipe grain pneumatic ship unloader. This unloader opens new possibilities for our customers that can now chose the reliability, the performance and cost-efficiency of VIGAN pneumatic solutions for capacities that were until now only achievable by mechanical solutions.
Although on all ship unloading technologies, the best performances are achieved on free-flowing products, VIGAN has developed unloading assistance accessories to disintegrate the caked product and restore its flow properties. This cutting tool is for example ideal for Soyabean meal unloading.
For a customer with terminals projects with more than five million annual tons of agribulk product import, VIGAN has delivered three Simporter heads completely manufactured and pre-assembled in Belgium. Those unloaders are operating continuously with very low operating costs thanks to VIGAN twin-belt Technology.
VIGAN has developed different technical solutions to manage corrosive products handling. Design is focussed on:
Materials: Components in contact with the product are selected from corrosive resistant material such as stainless steel, FRP, special coating...
Seals and spillage containment: A specific focus is made on the seals to have it resistant to corrosion, prevent spillage of product to could corrode outside equipment and prevent water ingress that could react with the product (i.e. fertilizer).
Maintenance: Easy maintenance and cleaning accesses are foreseen.
Overall, a ship loader for corrosive products is designed with safety and durability as the top priorities.
Loading operations sometimes take place in city environment when clean operations are mandatory. For a customer in South of France, close to restaurants and touristic location, being able to operate without impacting the neighborhood was a key factor.
VIGAN has developed custom solution to manage dust right from the design. Our ship loaders are designed to load the product without any free fall in open-air in any vessel conditions.
When dust emission is not an issue but loading time is key, VIGAN can provide motorized trimming solutions. It allows a complete vessel loading with minimum loader movements and an easy management of the vessel load balancing.
